Hardwood Horns drop to No. 9 in polls

By AustinSportsReport

The Longhorns basketball team, who some analysts were putting as a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, dropped from No. 5 to No. 9 in the AP and USA Today coaches’ polls today.

SI.com thought the Longhorns could even end up atop both polls if they could’ve just gotten past Texas Tech on Saturday.

But, as it stands now, Texas is likely going to remain a Top 10 team and be a No. 2 seed in the Big Dance.

While expectations have been high this season, that’s probably not something Texas will cry over as March Madness rolls in.

Kansas took over Texas’ spot at No. 5 today and the teams are now the only ones left in the Top 25, though Texas A&M - a preseason op 10 - received three votes.
