Minor-league roundup: Ice bats on the playoff bubble; Toros guard called up
By AustinSportsReportAs the Ice Bats enter the backstretch of the 2008 season, their postseason fate is still in question.
Austin still sits in the final playoff spot after a two-game losing skid. But they are just two points ahead of the Amarillo Gorillas and four ahead of Corpus Christi — teams they play in their final nine games of the season.
The Texas Brahmas are also in a playoff race, meaning when they meet up in the season finale both teams will likely be playing with a lot to lose.
The Ice Bats practice Tuesday through Thursday before their next game against Oklahoma city at 7:30 at the Chaparral Ice Arena.

Austin Toros guard Andre Barrett got called up to the LA Clippers Monday and is scheduled to suit up tonight.
The 5-foot-10, 173 pound veteran was traded to the Toros from the Bakersfield Jam seven days ago.
Barrett has played 63 games for the Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls, where he earned career averages of 3.4 points, 2 assists and 1.1 rebounds a game.
